Counselling style: I take a person-centred counselling approach. This relies on forming a genuine relationship, having unconditional positive regard for clients and demonstrating empathic understanding. I also draw from other humanistic counselling approaches such as existential psychotherapy and gestalt therapy.

Why do I practice as a counsellor?: Throughout my professional life I have strived to ease the suffering of others. I find helping people to be tremendously rewarding and contribute to a sense of meaning and purpose in my life. I have a deep respect for people’s individuality and uniqueness. I feel extraordinarily privileged to hear about people’s experiences and to share in these during the counselling hour. I find that helping people increase their awareness, make choices and experience a greater sense of freedom to be extraordinarily fulfilling.

What personal qualities do I lend to the counselling relationship?: Overall, I bring to the counselling relationship a great deal of enthusiasm, respect and a sincere desire to help. I also find that my genuine caring and warmth is felt by the individuals with whom I work.
